Welcome to our Chapter
The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) was founded in Los Angeles, California in 1974 by a group of engineers employed by the city of Los Angeles. Their objective was to form a national organization of professional engineers to serve as role models in the Latino community.

A Start of Making the Community Better
When we at Lanier High School learned of SHPE their mission of bringing people together and giving people in the Hispanic community a chance to pursue career opportunities STEM (science, technology, engineering and math), We knew we had to be a part of it, since a large percentage of our fellow students are Hispanic. We are a new addition to the SHPE family and will continue to spread the word of opportunities of STEM for our community.
